Arsenal fell to a shocking 2-0 home defeat to Southampton at the Emirates in the EFL Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday night.
Goals from Jordy Clasie and Ryan Bertrand dumped Arsene Wenger’s men out after the Frenchman’s 10 changes was of scandalous effect.
After the match, Wenger said, “It’s not the way you can stay in the competition and that we want a different response.”
“I think it was there, but overall it’s a disappointing night and I must say, Southampton deserved to qualify and well done to them.
“They were ready from the start on and we were not.”
The loss was Wenger’s first in 19 matches in all competitions this season.
